ParanoidAndroid AOSPA 2.99+ JB 4.2.1 for Nook Tablet (01/17)

  • This is a test build of ParanoidAndroid AOSPA 2.99+ for Nook Tablet.
  • The main thing you’ll notice is the “Hybrid properties” settings.
  • I just compiled it from source for fun.
  • You’ll unlock “Developer options” by tapping “Build number” several times.
  • There is no “Performance” settings, so you’ll have to use set CPU app or init script for CPU settings.
  • The default CPU settings is 1008MHz max and Interactive governor.
  • What I added are CMFileManager, Sound Recorder, and Terminal Emulator.
  • AOSP is bare bone Android.
  • If you are used to CM settings, you’ll find there’re missing settings here.
  • Use at your own risk.
  • Clear Data/Factory reset and Dalvik Cache before flashing if you are on CM build.
  • What’s not working? Haven’t use it much TBH. I am waiting for PA to reach 3.+.
  • What work? Wifi, Audio, Mic, Video playback
  • (01/17) Repo Synced, Updated SGX, GooManager integration in build prop

CM10.0 Jellybean SDCard IMG for Nook Tablet (12/31) FINAL

Does this work on Nook Color, Nook HD, or HD+? NO

Many people have asked for an image of bootable CM10 for SDCard. I was reluctant to do it because CM10 for Nook Tablet get updated a lot or aren’t as stable before. Making an image of the SDCard create a huge file and uploading it takes a long time for me. Now, CM10 for Nook Tablet have gotten to a stage where it’s good enough to run from internal every day. Still, some people like to maintain their stock OS and want to run CM10 from their SDCard. I’ve written many instructions on how to create a bootable SDCard for various CM rom. Some people are afraid they might screw up and some just don’t even bother to learn to create one from my guide. They opt for an image of CM10 instead. So, I’ve finally caved and made one.

How to Guide: Bootable (CM7/CM9/CM10) SDCard for Nook Tablet

Notes:

  • DO NOT SELL PREBUILT SDCARD WITH ROM
  • You need to have a microSD card 2GB or bigger.
  • Don’t update your touch panel firmware if you want dual or triple-boot.
  • Read CM10.0 Jelly Bean for Nook Tablet if you want to downgrade the firmware.
  • Not all microSD card brands are made equal.
  • I always recommend SanDisk due to fast small block random write.
  • Only CM10 support 5-touchs/10-touchs driver currently.
  • CM10 currently have problem with SDCard dismount when device goes to deep sleep.
  • This causes the device to not awake when turning it back on.
  • You have to hold the power button for 20 seconds and then power it back on.
  • Added comments for Ubuntu

Recovery for Nook Tablet (TWRP & CWM) (08/20)

This is my compiled recovery files.

Do not flash this into internal. It will not boot.
My compiled CM10 already have a recovery, TWRP CWM.
This TWRP build supports both 10-touchs and 2-touchs firmware.

  • Instructions:
  • Copy the altboot.img to the root of your SDCard.
  • At Cyanoboot screen, hold “n” to open boot menu.
  • Select option 6) SDC ALTBOOT to load TWRP/CWM.
  • If you want load TWRP/CWM without SDCard then you need to copy altboot.img to bootdata partition.
  • You can do it with ES File Explorer with root access.
  • At Cyanoboot screen, hold “n” to open boot menu.
  • Select option 3) INT ALTBOOT to load TWRP/CWM.
  • You can rename altboot to altboot1 – 3 or recovery
  • For emmc recovery.img, you need to use Cyanoboot’s fastboot.
  • ~: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
  • Need more help? Google/Bing is your friend
  • flash_recovery_sdcard.zip, flash it with recovery.
  • What’s great about this is you can have both CWM and TWRP running on your device.

Multi-touch on Nook Tablet (5-touch)

Thanks mik_os and kuzma for the driver and kernel!

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1629478

My instructions.

WARNING!!!

Updating your Nook Tablet touchscreen firmware required new multi-touch driver in the kernel.
If you run stock OS/cm7/cm9/10, it will mess up your touchscreen without the new multi-touch driver in the kernel.
You will need a new kernel with the new multi-touch driver.

Know that currently only cm10 support 5-touchs firmware.
You need to the place 5-touchs firmware in the correct folders.
You can run updatefw.sh from terminal or adb shell.
If you do it in the terminal, you can use ‘Vol UP + w’ to
bring back previous line so you don’t have to re-type.
You want to update the firmware before using the 5-touchs
kernel so you still have a functional touchscreen.
Else, you have to use adb shell.
 If it’s successful you’ll know.

Updated files for CM9/CM10 Bootable SDCard on Nook Tablet (10/27)

I have some suggestions to help you get this going. I have both the 8gb and 16gb NTs working just fine.

You say you are copying the “boot.img” to the CM9 rom zip. If you are talking about “cm9.img” that file goes into the sdcard partition.

Experiences:

First partition, make it 1001 mb. (Or 2001, 3001, etc.) I have expanded this to 16001 on a 32gb, and found by trial and error that this seems to be the largest that it will accept.

What I have found is that not all microSD cards are same. Some cards can be used to boot the Nook tablet and some cannot. I also have a Raspberry Pi, and the same is true there. (If it works in the Pi, it works in the Nook). So, if the card doesn’t work, try another. I don’t know what makes the difference, but I have a SanDisk 8 GB, and that doesn’t boot.

When redoing the card between tries, delete all partitions and create a Fat32 partition and then erase it before creating your partitions to use.

Instead of “system1” name the partition “system”. This helps with the Gapps file later on.

Hope this helps.

Randy Jakus

  • Copy boot.img/altboot.img, recovery.img, and flashing_boot.img along with u-boot.bin and MLO on to your sdcard.
  • Replace the updater-script inside the rom, *.zip, by drag and drop using winrar/winzip.
  • Flash the rom using recovery.
  • More details are in my other posts.
  • Do this at your own risk!

Booting Android Jelly Bean 4.1 from SDCard for Nook Tablet

This is a supplementary file. This is not a rom. Not tested. Not for 8GB Nook Tablet.

Download the rom by chrmhoffmann here: http://forum.xda-developers.com
Follow “How to Guide: Dual-boot (CM7/CM9) SDCard for Nook Tablet (Updated 5-28)“.

What’s in the cm10-acclaim-0.02_sd_hd.zip file?

  • boot.img – a modified boot.img for booting Jelly Bean off of SDCard ext4 partition 2
  • flashing_boot.img – new Cyanoboot (a modified bootloader for multi-boot) with volume keys support for moving up and down menu. You press home key to select. This build boot files boot.img, altboot.img, altboot1.img, altboot2.img, altboot3.img, and recovery.img off of SDCard and altboot.img placed on the bootdata partition. Unlike the previous one where it was made easier to distinguish between cm7 and cm9 by booting files cm7.img and cm9.img, it’s no longer the case.
  • updater-script – a modified edify script for installing Jelly Bean on system partition on SDCard.

http://www.mediafire.com/?q1b55bzqpsza1gf

If you previously installed CM7 or CM9 on your SDCard, you need to clear your data1 or data2 partition.
